Death is an innately human experience—the very last one. It may be scary and inevitable but it is this last human experience that makes all the other ones more precious. We experience death everyday in the goodbyes we say, the lives that cannot be saved, or the regret we harbor. But like most people, the most important reflection we can have while we ponder when we look for the meaning of our lives is that Life and Death are two sides of a very complicated and aged coin. Each one makes what we do every day even more profound and extraordinary.
To Katie, a doctor who asked me to create something that reminded me of the beauty of Death and the temporality and preciousness of Life. Thank you for entrusting me with your vision.
P.S. I hope you get a Mercedes. You deserve it. And stay away from the MRI’s!!
